Walking around the property.

So when we got to Alabama we immediately went exploring on one of the pieces of land that Logan's grandpa owns. It was so beautiful. So I'm gonna post some pictures of the land that we explored, and the land that his grandparents have a house on.

The first Alabama trip.

So today me, Logan and our friend Sherri (who is on this cob/self sustainable journey with us) are going to Logan's family's property in Alabama. This is an exciting trip because we get to talk to his grandfather about the piece of land that he has promised Logan his whole life. We had 3 states of land to choose from, (Florida, Kentucky, and Alabama) but Alabama seems to be the winner.

I consider us extremely fortunate because of this fact. The only bump that we have to roll over is convincing his grandpa that we can do this. Luckily, we have 3 cob books with us to be our factual and visual support. No matter what, Logan is guaranteed land simply because his papa has told him his whole life that one day some of the 2200 acres he owns would be his. Luckily, there's only 4 grandchildren to split it up between and Logan is the oldest.

I'm also overjoyed because we get to go roam the land and experience the suns movements, the best soils, and the already existing unaltered nut trees and fruits. The possibilities on this land are endless. Theres already a creek and a pond on the property that would be perfect water sources. I can't wait to post pictures of the pecan trees, blackberry bushes, grape vines and more.

This car ride is full of excitable attitudes, lots of talk about cob. This is what gives me hope about this experience. The excitement that overcomes people when they figure out that they can make their own food, and build their own homes is powerful. You begin to realize how hard you're actually willing to work to really survive.

The one thing I'm looking forward to most is finding other people that want to build cob with us. People that find this experience as bonding and soul reviving as i see it being. I have read so many inspirational blogs as books about cob that have given me so much hope. I wish those people knew the impact that their beautiful experiences have had on me.

And the thought that I get to be apart of this amazing revolution in the beginning is incredible. I get to make mistakes and help pave the road for others in the future. I get to create this mystical environment for my children to grow in.

So this is it, we're getting closer and closer to our saving grace. 3 people who dealt with depression and overall screwed up adolescence can finally take their lives back. We can be the people we are meant to be. I've already found my way to being in tune with my body and the people around me. It's time to live with nature, and be in tune with her.

The Beginning of it all.

It took me a very long time to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I always knew that I wanted to do something creative and amazing with my home. A home that was simple, like a little cottage in the woods with lots of room for a giant garden. I imagined bees buzzing, children laughing, flowers blooming. I wanted a beautiful and luscious garden that would provide me with food and a place to read my books. But it wasn't until I met my fiance Logan that I discovered the most perfect form of home building that I have ever witnessed in my life: Cob. Cob has transformed my way of thinking, any ideas about traditional homes can forget about it because no square, flat wall can compare to the inviting coziness of a curved cob wall.

I am very excited about this journey ahead of us. I'm working towards complete self-sustainability, one step at a time.
